Canyon Overlook Elevation Profile

Finding the Trailhead - From the Zion Visitor Center, take the Zion park road for 5 miles. Immediately after the first tunnel, a parking lot is on the right side. The trailhead is across the street.
Overview - After a set of stairs, the trail zig-zags up the rock face. The footing is uneven, but there are chains to help with balance. The trail then levels above the deep Pine Creek slot canyon. Next, a bridge leads hikers out over the canyon, then into an alcove. Leaving the alcove, the trail is uneven & narrow as it crosses above Pine Canyon. Emerging onto a hilltop covered with hoodoos, the trail crosses the rock to the overlook. At the edge is a fence & sign pointing out the formations to the west. Caution here, as it's a straight drop to the canyon below.

Trail Fun Facts - The Zion-Mt Carmel Tunnel is 1.1 miles long & was completed in 1930.
